The people got on the bus because they were against racism. Martin had ask Rabbi Israel to go on a freedom ride. The blacks was put in a certain area when going to the movies. Their goal was to test and challenge segregated travel facilities throughout the south. They got arrested in Charlotte, North Caroline and Rock Hill, South Caroline. One of the bus got firebomb outside of Anniston, Alabama. The second bus made it to Birmingham and face the Ku Klux Klan. Many of them were brutally beaten by the white men. They went by plane under the protection of the Kennedy Administration. Riders and 1500 supports are trapped inside a church. The freedom riders  face segregation in the south. Catherine Burks - Brooks and Jim Zwerg were 21 when they started the ride. Glenda Gaither Davis was 18 when she got on bus of the freedom riders. The riders set out for the south because to defy Jim Crow Laws and call for a change. They traveled to Mississippi and Alabama to fight segregation in transit system.
